Twice nominated UK Blues Guitarist of
the Year, a world-class harmonica player and songwriter, his band and
solo performances and 8 album releases have forged Martin’s reputation as
a leading force in British Blues today. The show is a rollercoaster ride
through all the excitement that the blues has to offer in the hands of
master musicians at the top of their game.
After
a year of rave reviews in promotion of the acclaimed “Ice Cream”
CD, Eddie Martin is back with a new album for the New Year. The 2005 EM
tour will promote “Play the Blues With Feeling”, released in
February (distributed by PINNACLE in the UK), which showcases the many
sides of this formidable musician.
The new album features his touring rhythm
section Michael Wiedrich (drums) from Chicago and Marion Dalton
(bass) from the UK. The band are top-drawer, having played with a
formidable array of blues stars including Buddy Guy, Junior Wells,
and Taj Mahal, and John Mayall.

Supplemented in the
Big Band by an experienced horn section (ex Mick Jagger) and
keyboardist Paddy Milner (UK Blues Pianist of the Year), the show
is very strong. Eddie’s guitar-playing and songwriting have climbed new
heights in recent years (Eddie is now a songwriter for Alligator Records -
the biggest independent blues label in the world). They have toured
successfully this year, including major festivals, and the show has wowed
blues, blues-rock and roots fans around the globe.
In
addition, we can offer Eddie’s one-man-band act. An acclaimed solo artist,
Eddie’s last acoustic album “Keep on Working” won the rare
honour of a 10/10 rating from Britain’s premier blues Magazine
Blues in Britain. His first electric and acoustic one-man-band
album, “Solo in Soho”, reached the
top-10-roots-albums-of-the-year chart in TIME OUT, who
described it as “excellent”.
Eddie is also an experienced workshop facilitator and tutor for the
European Blues Association. Many major festivals have programmed them
before—including Bishopstock and WOMAD. On any of the following blues
themes: country guitar; electric guitar; harmonica and the one-man-band
tradition, they are both educational and a fun experience for those
interested in learning more about the blues from a master practitioner and
scholar.
